Today’s picture is of paper tree bark.  The importance of this bark is it used to be used as paper to write on; of course this was before they had paper mills.

As I start the last photo assignment for the professional course at New York Institute of Photography, I am happy to note that this is not the end of my education, but the beginning.

My career in the photo industry is about to begin, maybe not today, but soon, and I know the need for continued education will be a key to my growth as a photographer, and eventual success of all I dream my career can be.

With that, here is today’s photo from my last assignment, there are going to be two more, but I haven’t taken them yet.

The Portland Headlight is the most photographed in the world.  The challenge of the headlight is to take a different shot.  This week I went to Fort Williams before the sun rise.  I found this view with a tree that I found pleasant.

Loons spend the Winter in the bays, and coast line, and move to lakes and rivers for nesting during the Spring.  I caught this one right before it moved out of Casco Bay for its fresh water home.

When it comes to capturing city lights, most people wait too long.  The best time is just after dusk, when the lights can be clearly seen, but there is still a little light in the sky.
