Photo Friday: I’m Watching You

March 17, 2017

As I learn my photography, through New York Institute of Photography, my best, practice subject has been my cat.  He has put up with bright lights, and having a camera shoved in his face, without a complaint.  This is my latest shot, practicing macro.

Watching You

First Look Photo: Winter Tourists

January 11, 2017

I was on a street photography walk, yesterday, and was asked to take a photo of two girls from New York.  They were visiting Portland for a few days, and wanted a picture of both of them.  When I saw a painting on the wall, of a nice mountain scene.  I asked to take their picture, and used the painting.  Instead of a city picture, it looked like they were getting ready to ski.

Out of all the shots I took, I like this the best.

Whacky Wednesday: 4 sentence fairytale

January 21, 2015

As with any goal, there should be some fun involved, and it’s no different with writing goals.  I decided that on my blog, for my writing I should devote one day to the fun side.  Every Wednesday will be dedicated to something whacky and fun.  I am going to challenge you to the same fun in the comments.  I would love to see how you turn writing fun; so I’ll keep these posts short.

Today is dedicated to the 4 sentence fairytale.  The rules are simple.  Four sentences, a complete fairytale, and where applicable, a twist ending.

Here’s mine titled Let’s Eat Pie.

Once upon a time, a fairy loved a boy.
The boy met a girl, and the fairy became jealous.
The fairy turned the girl into a pumpkin, and the boy was impressed
Now the boy and the fairy are married and enjoying pumpkin pie every night.

New YouTube Channel Needs Sponsors

November 11, 2014

what comes natural

This blog is a little off from my usual blogs. I have started a new YouTube photography channel. The name of the channel is Naturally Photographic, and I am designing it to teach basic photography to beginners, from the perspective of an outdoor photographer.
I know there are a lot of channels that teach photography, and each one uses a different method. Photography will always be photography, but being an art form, the way people approach it is very personal. After 38 years of taking photographs, and growing up around nature, I believe I can offer beginners a unique perspective without a static setting.
If you would like to see this new channel, I will now supply the link. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2IaJTvV8u1BwIJbu3kc5oA
If today’s blog was only announcing my new channel, I would have just put a link, and said “check out my new YouTube channel!” But it does have a real purpose. Having a channel on Youtube is free, and so is posting videos, however, to post quality videos is going to take new equipment, for example, a good computer, with real editing software.
I’m not looking for individuals to send me money; I would never do that. I am hoping that I can find companies who would be willing to sponsor my videos on the new channel. What I’m asking for will cover equipment, promotion, and living expenses so I can devote a proper amount of time to making the best videos possible.
In return for this, I am willing to offer mentions in videos, their descriptions, as well as the company name on the channel itself. If you are a company who would like to sponsor my videos, please let me know by e-mail to allenpbradford@yahoo.com and put “Business” in the subject line.
I look forward to hearing from you.

More power!!!

February 17, 2013

Thanks to my tax refund, I was finally able to get the lens I wanted, which was an Opteka 650 to 1300 millimeter lens.  This lens will enable me to get shots of animals too skittish to be approached, and up until now, I haven’t been able to get any shots of.

As a quick test, I took three shots of a boat from my living room.  The first one is a normal view with a normal lens (about 35 mm).  The second shot is 5 times the normal lens.  The third shot is at the full 1300 millimeters.  The last shot is somewhat blurry, but I didn’t have time to take the shot properly.  I am going to give it a better test tomorrow.

One thing to keep in mind, I did not crop any of these images.  You are seeing these pictures exactly as I saw them.

I hope you enjoy.

Day 67: Because You Love Me

February 29, 2012

Because You Love Me

Because you love me

I look forward to each new day;

Because you love me

I don’t care what others say.

Your love gives me strength

Your love makes a difference,

Your love helps me love others

Your love gives me confidence.

Because you love me

There is no obstruction I can’t overcome

Because you love me

When I’m with you I’m home.

Day 60: New Heights

February 22, 2012

New Heights

I watched the birds flying

And I wanted to fly with them,

I tried to approach them

To ask how they did it

But they flew away.

Then, as I sat on a rock

Trying to figure out what I did wrong

I felt myself being lifted.

I looked up

And the birds were carrying me

To heights I never imagined possible.

Perfect unplanned moment!!!

February 13, 2012

I know this isn’t the poem for tomorrow, but I was testing the flash feature on my new camera, and wanted to capture my cat sleeping, then he yawned, and I captured the best shot of him yet.

I resized the picture, and added the words in Adobe Photoshop Seven, and took the picture with my Canon T3

Day 41: Cloudy Day

February 3, 2012

Cloudy Day

I look to the sky

At the cloud’s approach,

And think about the rain

That is coming;

How it will clean the air

And bring new life

To spring flowers.
