Photo Friday: Showing Motion

May 19, 2017

If you like doing photo assignments, or challenges, this came from the Art of Photography on YouTube.  They are worth looking at.  This challenge is to convey motion in a still image.  I’ve done this before, but the shot I took this morning was worth sharing.  I just happened across this snowy egret in Mill Cove, and waited for it to start flying; they are so graceful.  I was able to keep the eye in recognizable focus, while blurring the rest.

Photo Friday: Birds of Winter

January 22, 2016

This time of the year is a great time to capture water birds in Maine.  Some are migrating, and some are year round, but it supplies some good opportunities.  To some, these may seem like ordinary geese and ducks, but others never get a chance to see these kinds of birds.  Either way, I hope you enjoy these shots.
