First Look Photo: The Odd Duck

March 22, 2017

I found this white duck among other ducks yesterday.  I thought it was just another type of duck, but the closer I looked at the markings, especially on the head, and after looking at my book, I realized it was a white female mallard duck.  It’s a rare sighting to be sure, but albinos happen in most species, and it’s still fun to see.

First Look Photo: Seeing Blue

September 14, 2016

Every year, around the beginning of Fall, the blue herons gather in different areas before heading south. This year, we were blessed with 4 herons congregating in Mill Cove.  They are the largest wading bird, and very beautiful, so I got a few shots, like today’s shot.

Photo Friday: Adding Drama with Clouds

May 1, 2015

Today’s picture is devoted to clouds.  Clouds can add drama, mood, and can help lead your eyes in a certain direction.  It can make an ordinary picture unique, and no matter how many times you take the same subject, you will never get the same picture thanks to clouds.  So, if you’re the type who waits for a sunny day to take out the camera, don’t.  You’ll get more interesting shots if you just include clouds.
