First Look Photo: Hay Fever Nightmare

July 12, 2017

Early in the morning, on my way home from work, I stopped at a bench to take a drink, and noticed what looked like a strange mist coming off some weeds.  Upon closer inspection, I discovered it wasn’t a mist, it was pollen being kicked up by the bumble bees landing on them.  Hay fever sufferers beware!

First Look Photo: They do Sleep

September 21, 2016

Out of all the things that most people never see, including baby pigeons and foxes that climb trees, I’ve seen most of them, but the one thing I never expected to see I saw, and captured this week.

Today is a shot of a bumble bee sleeping, which gave me the opportunity to get several shots without the bee moving.  How could I pass up the opportunity.

Photo Friday: To Bee

August 5, 2016

This week I was out shooting for my school assignments, when I happened on some cone flowers that were buzzing with bumble bees.  With my love of shooting close ups, I couldn’t resist the opportunity.  It wasn’t part of my school assignment, but you take the shots as they come.

Photo Friday: Now That’s a Tongue

July 8, 2016

I was on one of my photo walks, to the store, when I saw some bumble bees.  They were busy with the flowers, and I saw a great opportunity for some macro practice.  I just wanted to get a clear picture of a bumble bee on a flower, and I used a high speed burst to give me more choices of a good shot.  What I didn’t expect was to find one that gave me a good shot, and showed just how long their tongue really is.  This is why it is the shot of the week.

To make the sweet, sweet nectar
