This week I took a nice walk to Fort Williams, to take shots of the Portland Headlight in scaffolding.
The way I figure it, the best way to get the most out of my opportunities is to take pictures from multiple angles. One of my angles was from the bottom of a cliff next to the ocean. It was here that I found this week’s photo. It was not, as I figured, of the headlight, but of something growing on the cliff itself.
As I headed back I saw a flower I had never seen before. It looked like a columbine, but all the columbines I have seen were purple and white. This was the first time I’ve seen a red and yellow columbine.
After a little research I learned it is an Eastern Columbine, and it’s not unusual to find them growing on cliffs. So here, then is my favorite shot from that day.
